Position Overview

EGS is seeking an experienced Level A Wastewater Operator to support an industrial wastewater treatment system at a chemical manufacturing facility in Martin, SC.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment system while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. This position includes process monitoring, laboratory testing, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and regulatory documentation.     Level A Wastewater Operator

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor industrial wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
  • Ensure wastewater discharge remains within permit and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operational logs, treatment records, and regulatory documentation.
  • Collect and preserve samples according to permit requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections of pumps, tanks, clarifiers, filters, valves, piping, instrumentation, and related equipment.
  • Monitor influent and effluent treatment performance.
  • Adjust treatment processes and chemical feed systems as necessary.
  • Respond to process upsets and equipment failures.
  • Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support equipment startups, shutdowns, and repairs.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective-action development.
  • Support environmental audits, regulatory inspections, safety programs, and emergency-response activities.     Level A Wastewater Operator



Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid South Carolina Class A Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator License required.
  • 3+ years of wastewater treatment operating experience.
  • Ability to support 24-hour wastewater treatment operations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency callouts.
  • Ability to perform physical inspections, climb ladders/stairs/tanks, work outdoors, and wear required PPE.     Level A Wastewater Operator     Level A Wastewater Operator
Preferred: Associate degree in Environmental Science, Water Technology, or related field; industrial/chemical manufacturing wastewater experience; biological and chemical treatment experience; and Confined Space, HAZWOPER, or related environmental certifications.
