Job Summary
The City of Greeley is seeking a Maintenance Technician or Water Systems Technician l – IV to join the Wastewater Collections team in the Water and Sewer Department. The Technician will report to the Crew Supervisor I - Wastewater Collections and will assist in the routine maintenance of sanitary sewer lines and other related equipment and facilities. The Maintenance Technician will inspect and perform necessary repairs and perform preventive maintenance necessary to maintain sanitary sewer lines. The position requires field work involving working in confined spaces, excavation trenches, and near the operation of heavy equipment. Specific tasks may involve operating various equipment, keeping logs on corrections, ordering, and installing replacement parts, etc. Stand-by duty for emergency call-in is rotated among division employees.
Experience, Education, and Skills
Minimum Requirements
All Levels:
High school diploma or equivalent (required for licensure in the State of Colorado)
Must be available and able to commit to being on-call as part of a rotational schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be willing to respond to after-hour emergencies within 45 minutes, even if not on call.

Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,

Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of confined space entry, traffic control, trench safety, and other utility safety procedures.
Knowledge of water system construction, repair, and preventive maintenance practices.
Ability to read and interpret maps, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
Ability to respond to water system emergencies and participate in on-call rotations
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to emergencies.
Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures.
Skill in operating maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Basic computer skills for work order systems, email, and documentation.
Recordkeeping and documentation skills, including use of utility work order systems.
Time management skills to complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude while working with staff and the public.
Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Microsoft Teams and Outlook, etc.), CityWorks or similar program, and the ability to learn and experiment with new software and systems.
Travel
Category B-Regular Local/Field Based Travel: This position requires regular travel within the County and nearby cities. Employees frequently travel to field sites, client locations, or other City buildings as part of their job duties. Access to a personal or City fleet vehicle may be required.
