Description

Michael Baker is actively seeking a Technical Manager II, Water/Wastewater, specialized in complex pumping, to join our team in Alexandria, VA. You'll be a part of our team of talented engineers working on a variety of water, wastewater, stormwater and municipal infrastructure projects that include planning, design, engineering and construction support, with a focus on pipelines, pump stations, metering/flow control facilities, storage tanks, utility relocations, stormwater systems, etc. 

Tasks will include the following:

  • Review design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water distribution/transmission and wastewater conveyance systems (e.g. pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks) and stormwater pumping systems.
  • Provide consultation to clients and develop effective engineered solutions to complex pumping environments for both drinking water and wastewater systems.
  • Research products and materials and conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design as it relates to water and wastewater conveyance systems.
    Lead a team of skilled professionals with preparation of technical memoranda, studies, engineering reports, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates, etc.
  • Oversee in the development of hydraulic modeling of water and sewer systems.
  • Assist with technical proposals during the pursuit of key projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (cost estimators, GIS, designers, surveyors, and other engineers).
  • Client management/staff management responsibilities available for the ideal candidate, but not required.
  • Work with junior Project Engineers and Managers who will assist you in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Environmental Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 10 years professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater infrastructure (water and wastewater systems, pump stations, stormwater systems).
  • Be self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects.
  • Have excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation.
  • Ability to mentor in AutoCAD and knowledge of Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Compensation: The approximate compensation range for this position is $125,000- $165,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
