Job Summary: This position is responsible for reviewing small wastewater applications and floodplain applications for compliance with adopted regulations. This position will make onsite inspections of small wastewater installations for conformance with submitted construction plans and adopted regulations. This position will also be responsible for licensing small wastewater installers and providing educational opportunities to ensure understanding of adopted regulations. This position will implement the goals and strategies outlined in the Albany County Casper Aquifer Protection Plan. This position will work closely with applicants and must maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist applicants seeking approval of small wastewater permits and floodplain permits by reviewing applications for compliance with adopted standards.
- Work in a collaborative, professional, and positive manner with other staff, outside agencies, and the public.
- Ensure small wastewater system installers and wastewater pumpers understand and are qualified for licensing in Albany County.
- Provide presentations to educate wastewater installers to ensure regulations or procedures are understood.
- Implementation of the Albany County Casper Aquifer Protection Plan.
- May be required to attend meetings outside of normal working hours.
- May be required or assigned to other areas including planning projects or other assignments needed to further the goals of the Planning Department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A college degree, certification, or training (including previous on-the-job training) related to construction, plumbing, or floodplain management.
- Minimum of one year experience interpreting and applying building codes or regulations.
- Knowledge of small wastewater systems and floodplains.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills such as experience using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience making presentations to the public or others.
- Experience with providing customers and/or public assistance with questions and instructions.
- A valid Wyoming driver’s license.
