THE POSITION:
Under limited supervision, leads, oversees, and performs a variety of complex work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of control instrumentation, electrical, electronic, radio, and telemetry equipment and systems of the City’s wastewater treatment facilities.
Representative Duties
The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this class. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties: Leads, plans, trains, prioritizes, organizes, assigns, and participates in the work of staff responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of electrical, electronic, control instrumentation systems and devices including VFDs, electrical motors, power circuits, control circuits, computer systems including PLC, SCADA, radio, and communication equipment, co-generation facilities, systems and equipment; Coordinates repair and maintenance work with plant operators and outside agency technical personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from high school or GED; AND
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey-level work experience in operating, maintaining, installing, and repairing a variety of electrical, electronic, and control systems common to field or heavy industrial process plants; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties.
- Possession a valid class “C” California driver’s license, or out of state equivalent
Examination (Weighted: 100%)
EXAMINATION: ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (WEIGHTED: 100%)
The method of examination may include one or more of the following: written exam; oral exam; evaluation of education, training, experience or other qualifications as shown by the application, or by other information submitted, or by the record; questionnaires submitted to references; or any other appropriate measure of fitness. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.
NOTE: Admission to the Examination may be limited to those applicants who demonstrate the best combination of qualifications. Applicants possessing the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed admittance to the Examination.
